Carson Wentz reveals his thoughts on the Sam Bradford situation
Wentz doesn’t exactly see it that way. The rookie quarterback says that a quarterback competition is something that could benefit the team.
“People want to make it a big situation, but like I said earlier, we’ll have a really good working relationship and I think it will benefit the team because we are going to compete,” Wentz said. “And really everybody in that quarterback room and in the entire organization is going to compete and push each other, so I think it will only benefit the team.”
Wentz sounds like he wants to put the ugliness of the Bradford situation in the rearview mirror.
“It is what it is, honestly. Like I’ve been saying all along, it’s out of my control,” Wentz said.
It’ll be easy for Wentz to put the Bradford situation behind him because he wasn’t really a part of it. The bigger question in Philly is whether or not Bradford will be able to put the situation behind him. If Bradford plays distracted, then Wentz might have an easy time winning the quarterback competition in Philly.
After 13 seasons in the NFL, Dwight Freeney isn’t quite ready to call it quits. The 36-year-old, who spent last season with the Cardinals, wants to play at least one more year.
The problem for Freeney right now is that he’s not exactly drawing any interest from any of the league’s 32 teams. When that happens, you have to start trying to convince teams to sign you, which is what Freeney did during a Sportscenter interview on Thursday.
He spied Warner and just … knew.
“I had a great relationship with Dick,” Kroenke said. “Dick loved Will Furrer, the type of guy we’d all want to marry our daughter. He worked his tail off. Came out of Virginia Tech. I liked Will.
“Nobody knew anything about Kurt, but I watched the scrimmage, and this is the similarity with Goff: I told Dick, ‘OK, I’ve never played football, but you want my opinion? The kid from Northern Iowa can see. He’s got vision. It’s like a really good point guard. Some guys have it, some guys don’t. Whether it’s Arena Football that gave it to him or whatever, but he can see.’
