Aaron Hernandez commits suicide in prison
Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end convicted of murder in 2015, committed suicide in his Massachusetts prison cell, the Boston Globe reported Wednesday citing corrections officials.
Hernandez was serving a life term without the possibility of parole after a jury found him guilty of the 2013 first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player. A statement from prison officials cited by Boston media indicates that Hernandez hung himself with a bed sheet overnight, was found by officers early Wednesday, and pronounced dead.
The then-St. Louis Rams held the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck and Robert Griffin III were the two top prospects that year, and both were expected to get selected early. However, the Rams didn’t want to draft a quarterback because they had Sam Bradford.
Washington, which held the No. 6 pick in the draft, felt it needed a quarterback to bolster the offense. So, it decided to trade up with the Rams to draft Griffin. Washington mortgaged its 2012, 2013, and 2014 first-round picks for the Rams’ No. 2 slot. Washington also threw in a 2012 second-round pick to make the deal more attractive.
The Chiefs’ defense is a strength, but with Derrick Johnson coming Cheap Barcelona Jerseys off of a torn Achilles, taking inside backer Zach Cunningham in the first is a smart play. Kiper gives Alex Smith some playmakers to work with in the second and third rounds with wide receiver Chris Godwin and running back Alvin Kamara. If Kizer falls that far, landing in Kansas City where he can develop behind Smith for now would be an ideal situation.
